Step 13 ; $20-$40 Reached !!!

OK, the CD writer didn't sell at $35 NZD, but I offered it for $25 after the auction finished and the offer was accepted :D

That means after fees and postage I have $41.75.

So I have plans for $30 of that. And with some help from the wonderful concept of Public Domain, I wil hopefully double that within a few weeks.

Other Doublers !!

Recently I've become aware of quite a few other "Doublers" and have added them to my links to the left.
It's amazing to see peoples different takes on making money ...
A couple have gotten to step 13 (give or take..) with collecting bottles & cans ! I think the closest type of place to New Zealand that does this is actually South Australia (and that's not close !!).

So far I have been selling things that have been found or bought cheaply.
This approach can get you fairly far if you are a good judge of what sells. The other problem is living in a place with access to bargains !
Unfortunately I live 75kms from the nearest town so it really is quite difficult and expensive to go in just to look for items to sell.

I've been reading "The Science of Getting Rich"
And I've been realising I really need to create a value. I think I've got an idea on how to do this so watch this space !!!

So, you're wondering what I've found to advance ?
Well, I got a very rare pair of Mod Jeans. They are Diesel and still have their tags. The price on them is 110 pounds (around $320 NZD !!) and free with my $10 purchase was this CD writer. I tested it thouroughly. It has software for both PCs and Mac and most importantly it runs natively through OSX (!!!).

So I've listed it including postage for $35 and I'll list the Mod. Pants soon.

I also have some great ideas for the next step !

Next stop...Step 13 !!

Wow, Fast !!

About 4 hours after listing the books, they have sold ! After fees and postage I now have $26.30.

So the next step is $20-$40.
I think there is a church sale on Sat morning here, so I'll see what I can do....

Step 12 : $10-$20

Payment for the items has come in, and with some of it, I managed to get a book the same as one I was given by my sister (a great book...!).
So I am offering this book called "Your Investment Property- How to choose it, Pay for it & triple your returns in 3 years (by someone who did it in 2)" by Anita Bell. The New Zealand Edition.

And I'm coupling it with one of my favourite authors' books, Robert Kiyosakis' The Cashflow Quadrant. One of the books all humans should read before leaving school !!

The Auction is HERE
This time I am aiming for the total amount of the step as that leaves the money from the previous step to pay the fees and postage. On my last one, I noticed that making up the half of the money for the step, actually cuts it too close. So from now on, I will try to aim for the full amount.
As the rules state, i'm spending the leftover elsewhere :D

Step 11 Completed $5-$10

Well, step 11 is now complete !
I sold the SSC items that mum found for $5 bringing me after fees to $10.
So what about Step 12 ??

I found another copy of a book that I was given as a present, and so I'll see how that goes...
But it's also Wednesday here, so I'll pop down to the second hand shop and see if there is anything I can resell there !

Step 10 Completed ! $5

That little elephant that we collected on a walk just sold for $5, so even minus fees I'm ahead :)
I can see why the early steps are so important now.

The joy of finding something is intense, but when you turn nothing into something, well, it's even better !
The waiting for the step to be completed also teaches patience, which I'm sure will come in handy when the steps are far larger.

So what of the next step ?
Step 11 - Turn $5 into $10

A long while ago, my Mum found a little figure and a hat that both came from the Strawberry Shortcake line.
Now, I don't really collect SSC items (except for really cute minis if I see one...). So I thought for the next step I would sell these 2 things as technically, they were also found.

Something else to add

OK, spring is coming so I took Chloe on a long walk. About half way she started nosing and digging. I pulled her away and found this;

He is a little locket. A very small brass elephant with Bankok, Thailand on him. The little area inside looks about the size of a pill holder !
So, I have also listed him on trademe HERE

My $5 step.

In a former life I had something to do with a business building organisation. I found I still had the tapes (5 or 6 of them) and was going to give them to goodwill.

Due to needing $5 for the next step, I have listed them on Trademe for $5 including shipping so we'll see if I get any takers...

See them here

Listing with gallery cost 25c
Total is $2.95

Another 50c. The Pub & The Garden...

While out walking on the 6th Chloe dragged me into the parking lot of one of our towns' Pubs. She sniffed around, and when she got out of the way there was a shiny 5c piece staring up at me.
does this dog have a nose for money, or what ?!!

And as I was gardening yesterday, I came across another 45c... See, growing your own food is a good thing :D

And before you say it...I know 5c is no longer legal tender here, but I popped down to the bank and had it changed.

The total is now.....
$3.20

So what I'm heading for is the $5 step and I think I have just the thing to do it !

The money so far (before being banked into a separate bank account for this purpose...)

First money found.

On the 1st of September I walked my puppy down to post some items away for my business (I sell toys online...). Chloe who has a strange obsession for all things human, started pulling and I noticed she had found a bottle top. She pushed it over and started happily munching on what was underneath.

The metallic sound had me worried, so after getting completely covered in slobber, I extracted $2.70 from her mouth !
So my first amount was found..

Total ; $2.70

Thanks Chloe !!

Can it be done ?

Can I double my way to a million dollars ??
I'd have to say yes, but the real challenge it seems will be not touching it before then !

I year ago I did do something similar. I won $100 and in 6 months turned it into $2,500 simply by buying low & selling high !

When I did this, it was a great learning experience. I learnt so much about what different people collected and what types of things are collectable.

So for this challenge, I am going to log every step of the way online. I'm not going to actively tell people I know what I'm doing, but if they find the blog, then fine :D

So where did I come up with this idea ?
I didn't !

This Guy posted on the One Red Paperclip Trading post about his journey. I kept reading every post he made, read all the resources he sighted and decided it was time for me to get working !!

At first I was pretty doubtful that I would find any money at all. I live in a small town with about 500 people and lets face it, most in NZ are pretty tight fisted and wouldn't let the small change escape ! Also, our "government" has decided the lowest amount we should have is $0.10 ! Zimbabwe anyone...???
